Being a mother means being a creative multitasker. We at WeGoRo love these cool parenting ideas as much as the thousands of people who have already seen them on social media. If you still haven’t, we have them here for you.
Helena Lee, a new mom from Great Britain, shared her way of giving medicine to her newborn child. When her 2-month-old son Alfie got a fever, the woman had to give him the oral suspension, but no matter how hard she tried, the boy refused to swallow and spit it at his mom. After the frustrating 24-hour struggle, she suddenly remembered seeing this trick somewhere. She took a dose syringe and placed it in the top of the rubber nipple that comes with bottles. Alfie sucked the whole thing out and not even one drop was wasted. Helena’s handy trick has now been shared by more than 130,000 people.
Kim Massicotte, a recourceful mom from Toronto, knows how to deal with little Picassos. When her 6-year-old son, Rhys, drew a house on the wall, she decided not to scold him, but to incorporate his artwork into their home interior. Here’s how she described his masterpiece: “R.C. Massicotte (b. 2011). Interrupted house, 2017. Marker on latex paint. Gifted to his parents, by surprise. Nov. 13th.” The photo of the artwork was posted by the father of the little painter, Eric, on his Twitter account. The tweet soon became viral and now has been retweeted more than 130,000 times.
A mother known on social media as mommybrittaney found a way to comfort her son after he hit his head on the edge of the bed frame. The kid was so embarrassed about his scratch that he didn’t want to leave the house. His smart mother cleaned the wound and turned the scratch into a lightning scar using a marker. They added a pair of glasses, and a new version of Harry Potter was smiling again. The caption added to their photo went viral: “It’s okay, mommy can fix this....”
Yevette Vasquez from Texas is a single mom of three boys. One day she dropped her 12-year-old son off at school and noticed an unusual amount of cars in the parking. She asked her son if there was any special event at school, and her son said it was “Donuts with Dad” day and all dads were invited to the event. Suddenly she had an idea. She drove back home and dressed up as a man. A shirt, a cap, and a fake mustache later, and she was ready to support her child! Her courage and resourcefulness got her thousands of positive comments on social media and a couple of dates, too.
Alice Velásquez was too tired of telling her teenage daughters to clean their room, so she came up with this punishment that went viral. The mother gathered all of the stuff on her children’s bedroom floors and put it in bags, which they could buy back for $25 each. Although some think she went too far, her method did work on her kids.
This mom called her method “500 points.” Her 6-year-old was using the phone after bedtime, which is forbidden in their family. She said she was a cop and gave him a 500-point fine. He could “earn” them doing something from his mother’s list. For example, writing a nice letter to someone in the family earned 10 points, cleaning and organizing a kitchen cupboard the boy could get 50 points, and doing 1 complete load of laundry would get him 100 points.
